All nurses in Nandi County have been promoted.This follows a pledge by Governor Stephen Sang during a meeting with the nurses during strike, September 19.He asked them to resume duty, and pledged to address their plight, including increasing their salaries and promoting them."All nurses across the county have now been promoted one grade up from their current posts," confirmed Sang, as he issued them with promotion letters, Friday.They had agreed to resume duty, almost 100 days after nurses countrywide downed tools, following fruitful talks with Sang.As he issued them with promotion letters, the governor used the opportunity to challenge Union Officials to partner with his administration in championing for the welfare of health workers.Governors had threatened to sack all striking nurses, on claims that their strike was unconstitutional.Through Acting Secretary General Maurice Opeto, Kenya National Union of Nurses, however maintained that they would press on, until their grievances are settled.
