NASA leader Raila Amolo Odinga’s push for constitutional review is ill-timed and ill-intended, Mandera Governor Ali Roba has said.
According to the county boss, devolution is working for his region and there is no need to review the same.
He also said that leaders will not back the Former Prime Minister on this move following his handshake with President Uhuru Kenyatta.
“What Mr Raila is talking about in Nairobi is not acceptable in this part of the country and we cannot accept to be taken to Garissa for services,” said Mr Roba.
He noted that devolution saw the county tarmac its first road, adding that the residents will also not back Raila on this.
“We are having our first tarmac road in fifty years and many other new things have come our way and he (Raila) is proposing that we go back to Garissa. We will not accept that,” Mr Roba said.
“How can Mandera be getting its share from Garissa when in the past we were forgotten and what will change?” he asked.
The opposition has maintained that the new move will transform the economies of different regions.
He opines that devolution has not been effective as it was thought.
