Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has helped airlift cancer patient Hamza Mohammed to Nairobi.
Mohammed had to drop out of school after battling with cancer for three years.
According to reports, he is suffering from lympoma, which is a blood cancer that affects the white blood cells and affects the immune system.
The cancer was forced to take chemotherapy but unfortunately his condition continued to worsen.
Governor Sonko stepped in and promised to assist Mohammed after coastal leaders failed to help.
The Nairobi governor paid for him to be airlifted from Lamu to Nairobi's Kenyatta National Hospital along with four of his family members.
"I'm happy that my prayers have finally been answered. I'm hopeful that I will get good treatment in Nairobi," Mohammed said as reported by The Star.
Medical doctors in Lamu say he will have to undergo radiotherapy which they said will cost the cancer patient approximately Sh10,000 per session.
"He requires 25 sessions, which brings the cost to about Sh250,000," said Mohammed's mother Riziki Bori.
"We are grateful that the Governor has helped us," she said,
