During his swearing in ceremony on Monday, Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko assured Nairobians that the cartels responsible for not providing the city with the necessary revenue to carry out operations will be held accountable.

The ceremony was attended by President-elect Uhuru Kenyatta, Deputy President-elect William Ruto and outgoing Governor Evans Kidero.

During his speech Sonko told Nairobians that things will have to change and that those found stealing would be delt with accordingly.

“We are going to seal all loopholes to suffocate cartels stealing our revenue, traders will no longer suffer under people mandated to protect them. My administration is going to work with national government to ensure security, clean water, slum upgrading and sound waste management during our five-year term,” he added as reported by the Standard.

The newly elected governor plans to work on infrastructure development, environment conservation, provision of health facilities, education facilities, and proper drainage systems.

He received the support from President Uhuru Kenyatta and the national government with whom he plans to work hand in hand to create jobs for the residents of Nairobi.
