After been silent during President Uhuru Kenyatta's tour of the Coast region, Taita Taveta Governor John Mruttu has finally broken his silence.Unhappy with how the President's recent tour of the region was conducted, the ODM Governor accused Jubilee of harassing opposition leaders and supporters when Uhuru visited Voi on Saturday, a visit that was a game-changer in the county politics as the area Senator Dan Mwazo defected to Jubilee."I was invited to accompany the President while on tour of the region but I was not even given the chance to greet the people. I will reconsider my future engagement with the President,” said Mruttu, as quoted by the Standard.Mruttu who paraded the ODM activists who were allegedly arrested by police prior to the President's visit, said it is unfortunate what was supposed to be a development tour was marred with political rhetoric.Governor Mruttu is among the ODM members in the county who have resisted attempts by the Jubilee Party to sway the region into the ruling party. Together with Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho and his Kilifi counterpart Amason Kingi, Mruttu has vowed to keep Jubilee at bay in a region that is considered an opposition zone.
