Lamu Governor Fahim Twaha has suffered another setback after two of his County Executive nominees were rejected.According to Baraka FM, the two, Dismas Tolle Mwasambu (Trade, Tourism and Industralization) and Florence Ndung’u (Agriculture and Water Development), were rejected over corruption claims and on technical grounds. The county boss is expected to present other names before the executive can start delivering its mandate on the electorate following his election. The two candidates are said to have failed to meet the threshold required before employment into the cabinet.A report which was tabled in the Lamu County Assembly by Mkomani MCA Yahya Shee who is also the Leader of Majority showed that Ndung’u had been linked to graft while Mwasambu’s nomination was rejected over technical issues. The vetting board took into account different aspects when conducting the exercise including knowledge on the subject, tax compliance, integrity issues and overall suitability among others. However, four nominees to the cabinet were approved by the board. The four are; Raphael Munyua (Health Services, Environment and Sanitation), Fahima Araphat (Lands, Physical Planning and Infrastructure Development), Former Lamu Town Clerk Ahmed Hemed (Finance and Economic Planning) and Tana River County Secretary Abdu Godana Dae (Fisheries, Livestock and Cooperative Development). They were sworn in on Thursday at the Mokowe County Headquarters.
