Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana has asked President Uhuru Kenyatta to decisively deal with corruption if he wants to leave a good legacy.
Kibwana said the president's legacy is at stake with the alleged massive corruption in his government.
According to Kibwana, Kenyatta’s development agenda achieved in the last five years is likely to be tainted by corruption.
“The SGR and other good things the president has done will easily be forgotten if he fails to fight corruption,” Kibwana said.
He spoke during the county's prayer meeting in Wote Catholic Church on Monday.
Kibwana said the president has to be firm and take stern measures to eliminate the vice.
The Wiper governor claimed that corruption cartels are around the president and he must smoke them out before it is too late.
He said while President Kenyatta might have the will to combat graft, some people around him are not.
Governor Kibwana, however, lauded the order for lifestyle audit by President Kenyatta saying it will help expose corrupt State officials.
President Kenyatta has vowed to tame corruption.
Last week, the president ordered for lifestyle audit on government officials.
Early this month, President Kenyatta ordered for vetting of all government procurement and accounting officers as the fight against graft intensifies.
