Kisii county governor James Ongwae
has called upon striking nurses to resume work or
risk replacement with immediate effect.
Speaking a press conference in his office on Friday the governor said he had been pushed to the wall and had no choice but to start everything afresh.
“The locals can’t keep on suffering while the nurses are not ready to start working and yet we have paid them their salaries” he added
Ongwae, however, said that that they were compiling records of the nurses who have not reported on duty at the Kisii County and Referral Hospital before the close of business day (Friday).
“Already, my Government through the County Public Service Board has employed some nurses who have been posted to the County Referral Hospital,” he said adding that those to be employed later would be posted to other institutions across the country.
This comes after the nurses strike hit over three months while the government hasn't agreed to end it.
