Wajir County government has pledged to implement more around 300 ward-based development projects this financial year in a bid to improve the livelihoods of the residents.

Speaking on Saturday, Wajir Governor Mohamed Abdi assured the residents that his government is committed to ensuring better leadership in the next five years following his election.

The county boss said that the new projects will improve the welfare of residents across the region upon completion. He also said that he will ensure that the MCAs only approve projects that will benefit the common mwananchi.

“I’m glad to note that we will be able to implement close to 300 ward-based development projects this financial year. This will have a significant impact on the lives of our people at the grassroots level,” the governor said, as quoted by The Star.

He called upon the different stakeholders to ensure that the projects in question are not only consolidated within 10 days but also included in the supplementary budget of the county for proper planning.

He also promised to allocate Sh.25 million to each of the wards per financial year.
