Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi has said he is not afraid of President Uhuru Kenyatta who has threatened to jail him over corruption.
During his tour of the county early last week, the President said he will take action against Kingi for allegedly misappropriating Sh40 billion that the national government has allocated to Kilifi County.
But speaking during campaign rallies in Chasimba and Junju wards on Saturday, the Governor dismissed the claims telling Uhuru that he has no powers to arrest him.
"Gone is the Nyayo era when the president could speak and one froze. The era of barbaric leadership is gone and we can no longer be afraid of anybody. He (Uhuru) should read the constitution well,” he said.
Kingi told the Head of State to find solutions to the many problems people are facing under his leadership instead of staging war against leaders who have been telling him the truth.
"The President is acting out of anger because he has realised Kilifi has no interest in his government. He should not pretend to fight graft while he is campaigning for the election of corrupt leaders in his Jubilee Party," the governor added.
