Elgeyo Marakwet Deputy Governor Gabriel Lamaon has vowed to back governor Alex Tolgos during the forthcoming general elections.
Lamaon's pledge comes days after Tolgos dropped him, settling for 28-year old Wesley Rotich, who is set to be unveiled next week Friday.
On his part, Lamaon noted that he was not disappointed following the sacking, promising to back Tolgos unconditionally.
“I don’t consider the sacking a disappointment. I have worked with Governor Tolgos well and will continue to support him,” he said in a statement.
He further observed that the onus was on the governor to pick his desired candidate for running mate, adding that he was grateful to have served the County under the stewardship of Tolgos.
“I take the decision in good faith and will offer support to ensure that the governor is reelected,” he said.
“He gave me chance to serve as the first deputy governor of our county and I still believe he is the best governor for the county,” he added.
Tolgos is set to seek re-election on a Jubilee Party ticket.
