Lamu governor Fahim Twaha has assured residents of his commitment to boost security and create a friendly environment for business and trade.
Speaking in Lamu Town on Saturday, the Jubilee governor said that he will work with the national government to ensure security is restored.
The governor said that instances of insecurity characterized by terrorism attacks have slowed the county’s economic development.
He said that potential investors have also been shying away from the county as a result of insecurity.
“I am committed to ensure that there is adequate security in Lamu for progressive economic development,” he said as quoted by the Daily Nation.
Governor Twaha urged residents to support the government measures aimed at restoring security.
He also warned politicians against politicizing government security mechanisms.
“We must work together and embrace a community policing approach if we want to combat insecurity,” he added.
The Jubilee governor promised to champion local’s interests without discrimination.
Lamu County has been experiencing a state of terror related attacks in the recent past.
