The Governor said that there was great need for the local people to be given an opportunity that will see them participate in the making of the 2015/2016 budget before its adoption in the county assembly.

Ongwae, who was speaking on Wednesday while at the Kisii Cultural centre in Kisii town during a meeting with the members of the public emphasized that the county government of Kisii was fully committed in ensuring that it involves the residents in the budget making process, to ensure that they address their needs.

“It will be very wrong for us to go ahead and make a budget without first consulting or even involving the local people,” he said.

“This is why we have decided to ensure that we take our consultative meetings to each and every sub-county so that we can give a chance for all the people to give us their own opinion in coming up with a budget that will have included all the people of Kisii county,” said Ongwae.

The further said that his county government had already identified about six broad strategic priorities areas in the Annual Development plans 2014/2015, which will be of great help when it comes to guiding the county's development blue print.

“The broad priorities areas that we have already identified include infrastructure, water reticulation, social protection, healthcare, building of modernised markets, and also the human resource,” said the governor.

“We will ensure that we mainly concentrate on this and by so doing, we will have bring the much needed development in this county,” he added.

He went to say that his county government intends to construct 350 kilometres of compacted gravel roads that will be spread across all the 45 wards in the county, and also another 200 kilometre that will be spread in the villages.
