Youths from Kisii County have been advised to invest in information communication technology and knowledge management to tap available opportunities and benefit themselves.
Speaking in Gusii stadium on Thursday during the launch of Kisii county edition of Kikao Kikuu organised by the Communication authority of Kenya (CAK), Kisii County governor James Ongwae said youths have a lot of unexploited skills which could be developed to provide opportunities for them.
Ongwae said the county government was running a talent development programme aimed at nurturing the talented youths to a point where they could use the same for gainful employment.
The county boss said the county was endowed with talented youths in various area and if natured well could make them get to international standards.
“If well coordinated and developed technology can create employment for the majority of the unemployed youths in the county and the country at large,” he added.
The governor added that a youth friendly centre has been launched at Gusii Institute to help in solving various challenges affecting the day to day lives of the young people in the county.
He added that the youths would be sensitised on the issues of negative peer pressure that was to blame for the bad characters they portrayed.
