Youths in Garissa County have been urged to ensure that they join youth polytechnics to acquire skills and stop relying only on the white collar jobs.
County Governor Nathif Jama who was speaking on Friday at Garissa Ndogo, were he officially launched the Revenue Collections Office in the area, said that the big number of the unemployed youths are only after the white collar jobs which are very scarce.
"It really hurts me to see our young youths idling without anything constructive to do. This mentality of the youths whereby they choose which jobs they want to do should stop," Governor Jama said.
Jama further urged the youths to also form groups where they can be in a position to be given grants and loans which will in turn assist them in starting income generating activities.
"By forming youth groups, you can be in a position to be given loans or grants by the government. Theses can assist you get incomes through different activities," he said.
The governor said the county government of Garissa would soon start projects which fully involve the youths.
