Governor Lee Kinyanjui has vowed to fight teeth colouration problem in Nakuru County.
Speaking in Naivasha on Wednesday, Kinyanjui blamed high fluoride levels for the problem which he noted was a common problem faced by many residents.
The Governor said his administration was looking for ways of sourcing fluoride-free water for residents.
"In Naivasha, boreholes are the main source of water and most of it has high fluoride levels. My administration is committed to ending this problem," he said as a quoted by the Nation.
To address the situation, Kinyanjui is banking on the controversial multi-billion shilling Itare water dam.
The project is expected to serve close to a million residents of Kuresoi, Rongai, Njoro, Molo, Nakuru Town and parts of neighbouring counties.
The Opposition leader Raila Odinga has opposed the project, claiming it is hazardous to the environment.
