Nakuru Governor Kinuthia Mbugua has pledged to commit more money towards improving major roads and health facilities in the county in order to alleviate suffering experienced by residents in rural areas.

Addressing a series of meetings in Molo and Kuresoi North constituences, Mbugua said poor infrastructure had caused untold suffering to farmers who incur heavy losses on perishable products owing to the poor road network in the area.

“The county government has invested in road construction machinery which is necessary to ensure that roads in different parts of the county are well maintained and improved,” Mbugua said.

Mbugua also promised that the county government will install streetlights to improve the security situation in major business centres in the county to boost economic activities by increasing trading hours.

After inspecting Molo District hospital, the county chief said proper mechanisms will continue to be put in place to ensure county residents access better quality medical and health services.

He said plans were underway for the construction of health dispensaries at ward levels to ensure the public acquire essential healthcare services.

‘Health is among the devolved sectors in the constitution and that is why we are focused on constructing more health centres, dispensaries and maternity wards and also make sure modern equipment and facilities are available in all our public hospitals,” he added.
