Nakuru County governor Kinuthia Mbugua has pledged that his government will upgrade rural roads hampering transportation of agricultural produce to the market.
Mbugua said the rains pounding both Molo and Kuresoi sub-counties have disrupted road engineers working on the roads. He added that more funds will be allocated towards roads construction and maintenance in the agricultural sub-counties.
Addressing residents at Elburgon town after donating bedding and food items to fire victims, the governor also defended his move to ignore calls for a referendum to increase county allocations by the national government.
He urged governors to help the government deliver pledges instead of advocating for a referendum for the sake of the overstretched taxpayers.
At the same time, Molo MP Jacob Macharia and Elburgon MCA Florence Wambui lashed out at leaders calling for a referendum, urging them to account for the money allocated before asking for more.
