Nakuru Governor Kinuthia Mbugua says he is ready to work with elders and retired politicians in managing county affairs.
Speaking when he met elders from Bahati and Subukia constituencies on Thursday at Bahati Boys’ high school, Mbugua said the input and advice of elders and retired politicians is important and cannot be ignored.
He said he understands the importance of elders in a society and promised to involve them in the making of important decisions affecting the county.
“Since time immemorial, elders have played a very important role in shaping our society by offering advice to leaders and as the governor I understand the importance of the elders' input in developing our county,” said Mbugua.
He called on the elders to be at the forefront in uniting elected leaders and residents of the county by helping solve the persistent differences which arise among leaders.
“Elders are respected people in the society and it will be easier for leaders to listen to them and they must help us solve some of the differences which have emerged among us” he said.
The elders, led by former Subukia councilor Titus Waweru, promised to work with the governor and pledged to offer him full support in executing his mandate.
“We are ready to support you because we have seen what you can do and we believe if we work together we can go far and as elders we will always be ready to bridge any gaps that might arise between you and other leaders in the county,” said Waweru.
