Kiambu County Governor Ferdinand Waititu is in Kwale County for the 2017-2018 Governors Induction Workshop.
The exercise is currently underway at Diani Reef Hotel.
President Uhuru Kenyatta opened the workshop officially on Wednesday.
Kenyatta said he was determined to ensure that the services of National Government benefitted all Kenyans in different parts of the country.
He expressed his hope for Kenya road to prosperity through devolution.
Later on Friday, Governor Waititu was elected to chairmanship position of Urban Development, Planning and Lands Committee.
The post was initially held by Kitui Governor Julius Malombe.
He congratulated other governors for showing confidence in his leadership.
Waititu vowed to ensure Kenyans felt and appreciated devolution under his reign.
“Thank you, Kenyan governors for expressing confidence in my leadership and electing me to chair the Urban Development, Planning and Lands Committee. I will work to ensure every Kenyan feels and appreciates devolution,” said Waititu as quoted on his twitter handle on Saturday.
During the election, Turkana Governor Josphat Nanok retained chairmanship position of Council of Governors.
The function was scheduled to last for three days.
