Lamu Governor Issa Timamy has called upon President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto to take stern action against school heads for defying the directive not to send students home over fee arrears. This comes after the Head of State directed schools principals in areas affected by the ongoing drought to allow all students including those with fee areas to learn without any interruption.Speaking in Lamu on Thursday, Timamy said he has been presented with a list of 31 school heads from drought hit areas in the county who have gone against the order. The governor, who recently refused to cross over to Jubilee ahead of the August polls, confirmed that he has already forwarded the list to the county commissioner for necessary action to be taken against the affected persons. “Despite the president’s directive, some school heads have defied the order and gone ahead to send away students over fees. I have received some of the names of the affected students and have handed them to the county commissioner for action to be taken against such heads,” said Timamy, as quoted by Baraka FM.The county boss also revealed that his government has presented students from the affected areas with cheques to enable them continue with their education.
