Nyamira County boss John Nyagarama has said he is ready to pull out revenue officers from Nyamira County from the contested sections of Keroka town in efforts aimed at ending the feud.
The governor termed the border row illogical, and he now wants the conflicts to be solved once and for all.
“We should not fight over Keroka, and if Kisii County is really interested in taking away their portion of the town, they are free to do so for the sake of peace,” he said.
He however said that his Kisii counterpart Governor James Ongwae should also do the same for areas currently in Kisii county that belongs to Nyamira County, pointing out that areas like Mwabundusi/Bwabosire, which covers Kisii Bottlers, Jogoo estate as well as Gusii Institute presently thought to be part of Kisii Town needed to be surrendered to Nyamira County.
“They should also surrender our portions in Kisii Town where they had been collecting revenue meant for us, let Kisii County take its portion in Keroka town and we also take our portion in Kisii town so that there is peace," he said.
“It is unfortunate that the boundary dispute between us has reached a point where our people from either side are carrying machetes and shedding each other’s blood over this issue,” he said
The sentiment from Governor Nyagarama comes days after Nyaribari Masaba Elijah Moindi called for the two counties to settle the matters through diplomacy.
