Kiambu County Governor Ferdinand Waititu now wants Opposition leader Raila Odinga arrested over the post-poll attacks in Kawangware.

Speaking to a local vernacular radio station, Waititu accused Raila of inciting violence which has left 10 people dead and tens of others injured.

"We have confidential reports that he (Raila) is arming the youth with pangas and paying them to wreak havoc in the area," he claimed.

The Governor told President Uhuru Kenyatta not to fear the Opposition leader and take a stern action against him.

"You are not a bishop, deal ruthlessly with Raila who is hell-bent to stoke fires of violence," Waititu added.

The past few days have seen Kawangware break out in sporadic but fierce violence that has threatened to rip apart the usually peaceful and quiet section of the city.

Police are investigating the violence and are said to be looking at the possible involvement of politicians.
