He warned cartels involved in illegal business of conning unsuspecting job applicants seeking county jobs that their days are numbered.

"I have received reports that some parents have sold their land to give bribes to enable their children secure jobs with the County Government. The same cartels were alleging that the money is meant for me. Why should I demand bribes. Jobs are advertised with successful applicants picked on merit," he said.

The governor was speaking on Saturday during the burial of retired Army officer Mzee Julius Olekete alias Jukos who died aged 76-years at Aboloi village. Jukos was enlisted in the Kenya Army in October 1964, a year after the Kings African Rifle ended in 1963.

He retired in 1988 as Warrant Officer II after completing his color service of 24 years.Former Deputy Secretary in the Office of the President Ben Akwara said the late Jukos was his contact in the department of defense when he was the chairman of Harambee Sacco.

He was honored with North Eastern Captain Medal, Long Service and Good Conduct medal.

"I will not sit and watch innocent residents being conned off their money," Ojaamong said.
