Kiambu County governor William Kabogo has cautioned youths in the county against taking part in criminal activities.
Speaking in Ruiru town on Sunday, Governor Kabogo told youths that they will gain nothing by joining and being part of criminal gangs.
He said that the government is concerned, and worried about the increasing number of youths who are allegedly joining criminal groups.
Kabogo said that the county has put in place programmes meant to empower youth and urged them to utilise the opportunities availed to the to improve their standard of living without violating any law.
Governor Kabogo wondered why some youths would find pleasure in joining terror groups whose main agenda is to terminating innocent lives.
“It is saddening that some of our youths are finding pleasure in terminating innocent lives and causing pain and havoc in our society for no apparent reason,” said Governor Kabogo.
He also warned that the county will not tolerate groups that or individuals who radicalise young people whom in turn kill innocent people, inflicting pain to their family members and to Kenyans in general.
Kabogo urged Kiambu locals to be vigilant and immediately report to Police acts they feel are suspicious.
He said that criminal gangs will not be given space to cause havoc in the county warning that they will be dealt with accordingly.
Governor Kabogo added that they are working closely with the national government to implement policies and strategies that will ensure peace and stability in the county.
