Taita-Taveta Senator Dan Mwazo has said he decamped from the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) to Jubilee Party after he realised the opposition party had nothing to offer to his constituents.
Speaking during a Jubilee rally in Buguta on Thursday, Mwanzo said he made the decision based on the welfare of the local community who wanted to be in government.
“I was there for 10 years and all that we did was just gambling. We are no longer fools to continue gambling with our future. A good dad is the one who comes back home with a loaf of bread for his children,” Mwazo said as quoted by the Star.
Mwazo, the Jubilee gubernatorial candidate, praised President Uhuru Kenyatta administration because of the projects it has initiated in the area, pledging that the county will deliver more than 120,000 votes for his reelection next month.
"The Jubilee government has delivered in tarmacking the Voi-Taveta road that the past four regimes failed to. This is what our people wanted," said the governor hopeful.
The rally was led by Deputy President William Ruto, Tourism Cabinet Secretary Najib Balala, Taveta MP Naomi Shaban and Taita Taveta Women Rep Joyce Lay.
The DP urged residents to vote for President Kenyatta to enable him to continue with the development agenda.
