Nairobi county governor Evans Kidero has blamed the low voter registration turnout, especially among youths on bad leadership in the country.

Speaking at a church service in Nairobi, Kidero expressed concerns over the low numbers with just a few days left to end the mass voter registration.

"Less than 50 per cent of the expected number is registering and people who are not registering are especially the youth between the age of 18 and 26," he said.

The governor pointed out that the youth cannot reunite themselves with the insulting utterances that they see [among leaders] on TV and hear in radios.

“We have been asking ourselves why, and the answer that is coming is that the youth are disappointed with the leaders,” Kidero said.

According to Kidero, having an irresponsible government which borrows without consideration will lead to a huge debt which will be paid in future by the present youth.

Kidero is therefore calling upon the youth to register in large numbers in order to stop such acts.

Dr. Evans Kidero was speaking at Voice of Salvation and Healing Church in Buruburu on Sunday.
