The Council of Governors (CoG) has faulted the national government for allegedly failing to allocate funds to mitigate drought and famine in the Counties.
Chairman Peter Munya said the national government has been allocating insufficient funds to the County governments to mitigate cases of drought when the disaster already strikes, affecting Kenyans.
He said the Country still relies on older policies in addressing issues of concern, a move he said only benefits those in power, leaving behind the needy 'wananchi'.
Speaking during the 2nd Intergovernmental Forum on Agriculture Sector in Mombasa County, Munya lamented that little has been done in the Counties due to poor funding from the national government.
The governors challenged other government agencies to help them run the Counties smoothly by releasing required funds on time.
Various arid and semi-arid Counties are currently experiencing drought and famine.
Governors from across the 47 Counties and stakeholders in the Agriculture sector attended the Monday event.
