Nyeri deputy governor Mutahi Kahiga was on Monday November 13 sworn in as the county's boss.

This followed the death of his boss Governor Wahome Gakuru in a road accident.

Other governors were however conspicuously missing from the function.

Ordinarily, swearing in ceremonies of governors are full of pomp and colour.

Political bigwigs Raila Odinga, Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto attended ceremonies of Joyce Laboso, Anne Waguru and Hassan Joho.

It's no clear why even the council of governors chair Josephat Nanok did not grace Mutahi's day of taking power.

Some governors like Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko feel deputy governors should not be assuming power if a vacancy occurs in the office of the county boss.
