[Photo: CoG]The Council of Governors (CoG) held an emergency meeting with CeCs and Directors of Health from the Counties over the ongoing nurses strike.Led by CoG chairman Josephat Nanok, governors were updated on the strike which kicked off Monday June 5, and mitigation measures by the counties. The meeting held Wednesday at the CoG offices, was also meant to update the CeCs and Directors on the progress of the nurses' Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).The meeting came a day after Nanok met the Kenya Medical Practitioners Pharmacists and Dentists Union (KMPDU) officials led by the national chairman Samuel Oroko.Nurses have downed tools nationwide, paralysing services in public hospitals. They have accused county governments of failing to implement the Return to Work Formula signed in December 2016, few days after they called for a strike.They are demanding a pay hike and conducive working environment.
