Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua and his Kakamega counterpart Wycliff Oparanya have called for constitutional amendment to create more political seats.
Addressing the public at Kayienga market in Shinyalu, Kakamega County on Thursday, Mutua said changes should be made in the constitution to allow a candidate vie for two different seats in general elections.
"One shouldn't die politically just because he failed to clinch a seat he or she vies for, they should also be integrated somewhere else to serve the people," Mutua said.
Oparanya on the other hand wants the position of Prime Minister brought back to ensure all the tribes are represented.
"We want the broadening of the executive to ensure that every tribe feels represented, the presidency shouldn't be for two tribes," Oparanya said.
The duo said they will form an alliance ahead of 2022 general elections.
The two governors have both expressed their interests in vying for the presidency in 2022 polls.
Last week, Oparanya asked Raila to back his presidential bid stating it is time Raila repaid the Luhya's loyalty by supporting one of them.
"For a long time we have backed Raila as the Mulembe nation, it's time you did the same," Oparanya said.
Mutua is in Kakamega County in a two day bench marking tour, just a day after completing his Nyeri tour.
