Speaking at Nyaramba during a funeral, Okongo said that the governors pocketed the money, and people are now suffering.

“When the funds were issued, the governors were to open the culverts and the trenches and carry out other measures to protect the people against El Niño, but the money ended up in few people's pockets,“ Okongo said.

He went on to question the work done so far by the county, saying little has been done to better roads.

“Tractors were brought here and yet the roads are impassible, were they brought to construct roads heading to the governor's relatives when there are funerals or for the county roads, we are fed up with this now,” Okongo added.

Okongo further urged Governor John Nyagarama to stop 'lying' to locals and instead deliver on his promise.

“Let the governor now work for the people and stop joking with their minds, what he has already stolen is enough, let the remaining do development for the people,” Okongo noted.
