Cord governor's Okoth Obado (Migori), Jack Ranguma (Kisumu) and Kakamega's Wycliffe Oparanya have refuted claims made by a section of Jubilee leaders alleging that the governors are swindling public money to sponsor opposition chief Raila Odinga's political activities.
Speaking to the media separately, the governors said the Jubilee leaders' allegations are meant to divert the nation from the massive corruption at the Central government, challenging the Jubilee MPs to table supporting evidence to their assertions.
“I was elected on PDP and there is no way one can purport that Raila has been protecting me over non-existing corruption claims,” Obado said.
“The issue of money lost is neither here or there. My administration has never funded Raila,” he added.
“Raila having championed for devolution, it is in the best interest of him that devolution succeeds and unlike the Jubilee government which has persistently frustrated devolution,” Kisumu's Jack Ranguma said.
On Wednesday, Jubilee MPs led by National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale claimed that Cord governors are paying ODM Party leader monthly stipends, sponsoring his trips and funding his political activities.
