Governor Nyagarama announced the reshuffle last week, citing the need to improve services offered to the county residents.

Speaking in Nyamira, the MCAs led by both the majority and minority leaders, said that the governor had not communicated the decision to the assembly. They said that it was illegal to move executives to serve in dockets they were not vetted to serve.

“We heard about the reshuffle from the press, but the governor has not communicated to the assembly on the matter,” said minority leader, Jackson Mogusu.

Majority leader Laban Masira however called the reshuffle ‘normal’ but said that the problem was with the performance of the county ministers in their previous dockets. Masira called on the governor to sack those that failed to perform noting that moving them to other dockets would be killing the dockets.

In the reshuffle, Peter Ogwara Omwansa was moved from the Youth to the Education department, Janet Komenda moved from the Health to the Gender department, and Gladys Momanyi moved from Education to the newly created Public Administration department.

The governor also merged the Environment, Water, Energy, Mining and Natural Resources departments, and retained Reuben Sinange as executive, John Omanwa as the Finance docket, and Peris Mongare as the Agriculture department.

Jones Omwenga also retained the Trade department and Kepher Osoro retained the transport department.
