Nandi governor Stephen Sang has revealed that governors will soon be holding a meeting so as to finalize on the matter.

Speaking in Kapsabet town on Wednesday, Sang reiterated the need for a clear separation of the duties between the devolved units and the national government, especially concerning the education sector.

“We need the education sector streamlined so that counties have a clear mandate on what they will be handling in the education sector,” Sang said.

The youthful governor noted that in relation to the ECDE, counties should be allowed to handle the infrastructure development while the TSC deals with employment and payments of salaries to the teachers.

Currently, counties have employed ECDE teachers on contract terms even as they hope TSC will give them permanent employment.

According to the constitution, devolved units are mandated to handle ECDE and vocational training institutions while primary, secondary and tertiary education falls under the national government.
