Two Governors from Western Kenya want the law applied while impeaching the President replicated in counties instead of having two different legislations.
Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong and his Vihiga Counterpart Moses Akaranga said national and county governments are two distinct entities which should have similar laws governing them.
"Article 6 of the Constitution of Keya 2010 is so clear that calls for similar laws to apply," Akaranga said.
"The laws that are used to impeach the president should be used to impeach the governors. Likewise, the laws that are used in impeaching the deputy president should be used in impeaching the deputy governors. The rules which apply to the two government must be the same."
Akaranga said he was recently disturbed when some Members of the County Assembly proposed that their budget of Sh27 billion funds disbursed to them yet they have a staff base of only 400 people.
"This budget is equivalent to those of Vihiga, Busia, Kakamega, Bungoma and Trans Nzoia put together. MCAs should be realistic while making proposals in the Assembly," he added.
Ojaamong said the threshold of impeaching governors should be raised.
He said MCAs and the executive should be allowed to run their activities through dialogue without interference.
The two governors addressed the press in Busia after Akaranga paid a courtesy call to his Busia counterpart.
