Speaking to this writer on Monday, Chae said the First Lady was inciting Women and youth groups against her leadership and urged her to desist from dragging the region behind in terms of development.

“I am disturbed with the manner in which the First Lady is persistently inciting our women groups against my leadership. She is becoming a great obstacle of development in our county and its time for her to stop dragging our region behind,” Chae said.

“While I am busy forming formidable women groups that can be easily identified for help, she is busy dividng and disintegrating these groups by inciting their leaders. This is a primitive method of derailing development and she has to change for the better,” Chae added.

Chae said the First Lady was using the perceived bad relationship between her and the governor as a platform to campaign against various initiatives launched by her office.

“She is out to belittle my office by dismantling a number of women and youth groups I have formed for their own gain due to perceive differences between me and her husband (John Nyagarama),” she said.

She urged the First Lady to desist from politicising development and challenged her to respect her office by working closely to spur growth in the region.

“As women, we must ensure we distant politics from good initiatives targeting our people. She should desist from hijacking my projects for political gains. We have to work as a team for the good of our people but that cannot happen by going around discrediting what I do and by hijacking my projects to make me look bad,” she added.

Efforts to reach Nyagarama for comment were futile since she could neither pick calls nor respond to text messages.
