Three people said to be goons attempted to throw Rose Khaemba from the dais during her husband Patrick Khaemba's swearing-in as Trans Nzoia Governor on Monday.
Trouble began when the casually dressed men approached Ms Khaemba at her front seat.
They told her that they were going to forcefully remove her if she wouldn't leave by herself.
"We have been given orders that you should get off this seat and find another place to sit," said one of the men.
Rose then asked them who had sent them and in what capacity they were acting.
They casually replied they were Kenyans.
"I am also a Kenyan and a Trans Nzoian. No Kenyan should harass a fellow Kenyan," she told them.
"I am the Trans Nzoia county First Lady. The only person who has the authority to give me orders is Governor Khaemba," she added.
According to the Star, the incident happened as uniformed police officers watched.
The same function saw a Star journalist roughed up by county officials when they found him taking videos of the fracas.
Trans-Nzoia Women leaders have condemned the incident.
"I condemn this act in the strongest terms possible. The thugs who bullied Mrs Khaemba must be brought to book," said women's rights activist Immaculate Shamalla.
