Nyamira County’s First Lady Naomi Nyagarama is under pressure from a section of County residents to withdraw remarks that she had issued every learning institution in the region trees for planting.

Nyagarama had indicated in a 'Whatsap' group that her office had reached all schools in the county for a tree planting exercise, remarks that have not gone well with a section of social media users who seized the opportunity to troll her on social media platforms.

“It’s a fantasy to hear that all our schools have been given trees for planting. That is ridiculous and the First Lady has to withdraw the remarks because my local school Riamoni has never even seen her,” read John Getabu’s statement.

“Maybe she forgot to tell people that they only work in their West Mugirango backyard. The county government doesn’t know whether regions like Borabu and Kitutu Masaba exist. The truth is, she is playing PR which no independent thinker from Nyamira can buy,” added Alice Onchoke.

They challenged Nyagarama to table the number of schools which had benefited from the exercise and the regions they come from.

“To settle this story, let her come out and justify the ‘all’ claim so that she is vindicated. We want to see the schools she is referring to and otherwise she should apologise for misleading the public for giving false information,” added Kevin Matara.

They also demanded the First Lady explain the source of the money she is using to run a number of activities in the county.

“As far as the constitution is concerned, I don’t know where she gets funds from. We have never seen her enticing well-wishers to support such social activities. She should disclose the source or we render her irrelevant,” said Martha Mokweri.

Efforts to get a comment from Nyagarama were futile since she could neither respond to calls nor text messages.
