Nakuru Governor’s wife Lucia Mbugua has vowed to spearhead proper sanitation standards in Naivasha Sub County.
Addressing Kihoto residents on Monday, Mbugua observed that proper sanitation standards will prevent spread of diseases like cholera. She said that most estates in Naivasha have poor drainage systems, a situation the first lady is a threat to locals.
She added that the county government has a proper plan aimed at making Nakuru the cleanest county across the country and around the world.
“I am working with local and foreign partners to ensure sanitation standards are improved. I also will support any projects being initiated by women groups towards development,” she said.
Mbugua stated that women have an opportunity to progress if they take advantage of the funds being provided by the government.
The governor’s wife said that women are the backbone of any society’s development and that both the national and county governments have recognised that.
She said that her main agenda is to empower women and youths through development projects.
