In a bid to have the current governors from Nyanza and Western regions retain their seats, their wives have formed an organisation as a platform to drum up support for them.
The Western and Nyanza First Ladies’ Organisation comprises of 10 counties.
Four of the women led by the group chairperson Margaret Lusaka (Bungoma), Priscilla Oparanya (Kakamega), Rosella Rasanga (Siaya) and Homa Bay Deputy governor’s wife Seline Orata were hosted by Rosila Awiti in Homa Bay, Saturday, to campaign for her husband, governor Cyprian Awiti.
“We have been in this seat for a short time and you have seen the fruits of devolution. I request you to re-elect governor so Rosila can as well continue serving you,” Mrs Lusaka urged 20 groups of women they met.
“All governors in Western and Nyanza regions should be re-elected. Failing this will jeopardise development agenda we initiated to improve livelihood of women,” she added.
Oparanya and Awiti said voting in again their spouses would strengthen the union for women’s economic prosperity.
''Our objective is to foster development among women regardless of our political party affiliation,” added Mrs Lusaka.
