Farmers across the country will this year have a rare opportunity of planting their crops using fertiliser manufactured for use, on a specific soil type.

This is after the government revealed that it had bought over 6,000 metric tonnes of the blended fertiliser from an Eldoret factory.The multi-billion factory which was build through a joint partnership between the national government and Toyota Tsusho East Africa limited manufactures balanced nutrition blended fertiliser suited for use on specific soil type and crop.According to the Deputy Director in the Ministry of Agriculture Joseph Ng'etich, the fertiliser will be sold to willing farmers at a subsidised price, similar to the one that has been imported.Addressing the press after a meeting with farmers in Eldoret town, Ng'etich said the government will buy more of the blended fertiliser depending on its performance this year."As the fertiliser becomes known to the farmers and proofs good for use then we will buy more," he said. The fertiliser which is packed in 10kg, 25kg and 50kg bags is branded "Baraka Fertilizer".
