[Photo Amason Kingi]Kilifi governor Amason Kingi has accused the national government, of feeding his residents with plastic rice.He said the government was distributing the unfit food for consumption to Kilifi residents, after the county was hit by drought and famine, an incident that saw them depend on donations.According to the governor, the move by the government was deliberate."They have been unable to provide food for Kenyans and they are now importing maize for flour that is not available. In fact, they have been distributing plastic rice to Kilifi. We have seen the rice here already. They are feeding us with plastic rice," Kingi said, Tuesday, as he addressed residents in Sokoke ward, Ganze sub-county.The region was strongly hit by drought. The ODM was speaking as he elaborated mechanisms his government's efforts put in place to improve agricultural produce by providing proper training to farmers as immediate measures to boost yields.Cases of plastic rice getting its way into the country have been spreading on social media, with the Kenya Bureau of Standards (Kebs), saying such products can not be allowed in the country.
