The National government has increased the affirmative funds from Sh500 million to Sh750 million for more women to benefit.
Principal Secretary Ministry of Public Service, Youth and Gender Affairs, Zeinab Hussein this will help women improve their livelihoods and be independent. "In this Financial Year we increased the affirmative fund from Sh500 million to Sh750 million," she said during a press conference after attending a Women affirmative action meeting in Eldoret town, Thursday.She added: "Despite the money being interest free loans it's sad that women don't apply for it. I want to urge women to apply for the find since its meant for them.''She advised those who benefited from the fund to invest in income generating activities since they will repay it. "You should venture into businesses that will uplift the standards of your lives and also enable you put food on the table for your families and at long-last repay your loan. I'm calling upon all women to form groups for them to benefit from the funds,'' noted Hussein.She applauded those applying for loans for paying promptly, saying they had achieved 92 per cent Affirmative action loan repayment.
