In bid to honor the Negotiated Agreement signed between the National government and County governments, through the Council of Governors (CoG), the parties will resume salary talks mid January 2017.

The Kenya National Union of Nurses (Knun) called off a two-weeks nationwide strike, after signing the deal, following protests, and health services paralysis.

They were calling for a 200 per cent pay hike during the December 5 strike.

During the signing of the agreement, County governments were represented by CoG Health Committee chairman governor Jack Ranguma (Kisumu), and CoG Human Resources-Labour and Social Security Committee chairman governor James Ongwae (Kisii).

Nurses were represented by Knun secretary general Seth Panyako and chairman John Biiy, in the presence of Health Cabinet Secretary Dr Cleopa Maillu, CoG chairman Peter Munya among other County and national government officials.

Governors’ are likely to be represented by Ongwae, while Panyako will represent Knun.

Munya affirmed that the collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) between nurses and the government will completed by March 2017.
