Students who graduate from technical institutions have been challenged to focus on using the skills they acquire to create more jobs in the country.

Speaking during the 13th graduation ceremony for the Eldoret National Polytechnic on Thursday, the institution's Chief Principle Josephat Sawe said with increasing unemployment in the country, graduands from technical and vocational institutions should step in to address the challenge.

Sawe noted that the government had heavily invested in equipping the institution with modern training facilities "transforming us into one of the best technical training institute in the country and the East African region.

"Its only recently that the institutions received equipment valued at over sh172 million for the mechanical engendering department.

"We now has state of the art equipment in mechanical engineering, building, and civil engendering and soon the electrical and electronics engendering department will also be receiving their modern training equipment," said Mr. Sawe.

"With the kind of training you get here when you go out don't look for a job but instead create jobs for others," he added.

Eldoret National Polytechnic offers over 106 courses, 68 of which are technical ones.
