Public Service Cabinet Secretary Sicily Kariuki has encouraged university graduates to embrace entrepreneurship saying that it will save them (graduates) the agony of tarmacking for years in search of white collar jobs.

The CS who spoke at Mount Kenya University (MKU) 10th graduation ceremony in Thika on Friday said that entrepreneurship is the solution to rising unemployment in the country.

She observed that the national government is keen to promote and encourage entrepreneurship among graduates.

“University graduates should stop this mentality that they have to only work in offices and instead should embrace alternative ways of getting income,” she said.

The CS added that entrepreneurship will open more opportunities to graduates.

She asked graduates to apply for government funds under the Uwezo Fund and start businesses of their choice.

Kariuki said that government is committed to youth empowerment.

The CS also asked graduates to apply for the 30 per cent government tenders reserved for youths, women and persons living with disabilities.
