The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) deputy CEO Michael Mubea has warned that incidences of bribery are alive in Kisii County government.
This is after it emerged that a section of Kisii MCAs claimed sitting allowances while on maternity leave.
According to Mubea, in September, October and November 2015, all members were paid maximum sitting allowance yet some were on maternity leave.
Speaking at the Kisii County Assembly during the official presentation of the Corruption Risk Assessment report for the county executive and County Assembly, Mubea said the payments were included in the payroll before the end of the month.
Mubea said the team had compiled reports and noted some inconsistencies in the signatures used to support the payment.
"Corruption and bribery are alive both in the County Assembly and county executive procurement departments," he said.
