As more reactions continue to come over the resignation of Polycarp Igathe as Nairobi deputy governor, Senior Counsel Ahmednassir Abdullahi has blasted him for taking the move.
He said that Igathe's abrupt exit from office must be 'condemned in the strongest terms possible'.
He said Igathe should have done his research properly before he decided to join Sonko in seeking Nairobi's vote.
“Polycarp Igathe's resignation as Deputy Governor of Nairobi should be condemned in the strongest terms possible...for it shows what a poor judge of character he is..obviously he didn't do his homework before he jumped into BED with Mike Sonko,” Ahmednassir said in a tweet on Friday.
"Resigned because you failed "to earn the trust of the Governor"? In other words you failed to become a loyal factotum? Polycarp Igathe should be court marshalled for unlawful desertion. Total betrayal of the electorate," he added.
Igathe stated in his resignation statement that he had failed to earn the trust of his boss, a confirmation that the two have been reading from different scripts as had been speculated earlier in the media.
“Dear Nairobians, it is with a heavy heart that I resign my seat as elected Deputy Governor of Nairobi City County effective 1pm on 31st Jan 2018. I regret I have failed to earn the trust of the Governor to enable me to drive Admin & Management of the county,” he posted on his Twitter account.
“Without fear, favour or ill will I step down to avoid abusing or betraying my oath of office to Kenyans, Nairobians & my family. Thank you for the encouraging support given to me so far,” he added.
The governor is yet to give a personal response.
