The accused, Risper Ongwena, spent the whole Christmas season in remand, sitting tight for the court to decide her fate, after her grandson who supposedly stole the seat took off.

Her daughter, Margaret Onyango, said that the grandson deserted the stolen property at his grandmother's home and fled to an unknown place.

Onyango added that they were not able to raise the cash to safeguard or procure a lawyer to speak to Ongwena. She added that her mother, who is powerless against illnesses because of her age, has been enduring in remand.

The case will be heard on February 24, 2016, but for the time being, Migori Prisons will remain a home for the 87-year-old until the last judgment is conveyed at the Rongo Senior Magistrate's Court.
